This guide covers member policies and how to manage members. Configure them under Admin > Members.

Sign-up policy

• Allow sign-up: Decide whether anyone can sign up without an invitation.
• Sign-up fields: Beyond user ID, email, and nickname, decide what information to collect and whether it is required. You can also add your own fields (extra fields).
• Email verification: When on, a verification email is sent at sign-up, and members must verify before they can participate.
• Identity verification at sign-up: If you turned on mobile identity verification, it is added as a step before sign-up.
• You can register terms of service and a consent notice for collecting personal information.

Member groups

Groups are the unit of permissions. Access to features such as board permissions and beta downloads is controlled by group.

• Default group: Choose the group that members join automatically when they sign up.
• You can give each group an image mark (an icon next to the nickname).
• In the member list, you can select multiple members and change their group in bulk.
• With identity verification, automatic group assignment by age is also available.

Points

The point module lets you run an activity score system.

• Set the points awarded or deducted for sign-up, login, posts, comments, and votes.
• Level icons are shown based on point ranges, and you can move members to another group automatically when they reach a certain score.
• You can also deduct points for downloads, for example.

Login security

• Password policy: Set the minimum length and complexity.
• Login failure limit: Lock the account for a period after repeated failures.
• Login device management: Members can see the devices logged in to their account and sign them out.
• When you turn on social login, members can log in with a social account without a password.

Managing members

• Member list: Search, sort, change groups, and force members to leave.
• Block: Instead of deleting problem members, you can block them (suspend login).
• Assign admins: Make a member a super admin, or grant admin rights for specific modules only (per-board admins).

Messages and friends

The communication module provides messages between members and a block list. Members decide for themselves whether to get an email notification when they receive a message.

Leaving and personal information

• Decide whether members can leave on their own, and what happens to their posts when they do.
• We recommend creating a privacy policy page and linking it in the footer.
